Player Ratings – Cardiff City 0, Everton 3

Neil Etheridge

Goallkeeper Etheridge and Manga are probably leading contenders to be crowned Cardiff player of the season. Etheridge has been pretty consistent, but City’s defensive frailties have led to 31 goal being conceded at home 5

Bruno Manga

The only City player to have played every minute of every Premier League match this season. Played at right-back and, again, had quality moments 5

Man of the Match – Sean Morrison (capt)

The skipper played his second appearance since recovering from appendicitis surgery. Looked far more comfortable alongside Bamba, easing himself back towards full match fitness after being out for four matches 6

Sol Bamba

Battling Bamba gave it his all as usual, but defensively City are breaking down. Possession is being conceded far too easily in wide positions and midfield. That puts pressure on the central defenders 5

Joe Bennett

He was part of the problem before first goal. Gave away a throw-in needlessly and switched off when Everton attacked, allowing Coleman space and time to cross 5

Leandro Bacuna

Looks a bargain buy. City paid £3m for the athletic, effective Reading midfield player, who makes good runs in behind defenders and looks confident with ball at his feet 5

Aron Gunnarsson

Long throws were the main source of danger, but they need to vary the ploy at times. It’s way too obvious. Gunnar made some crisp tackles to win possession, but too often Cardiff failed to use the ball well enough or simply gave it away 6

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

Ralls, Camarasa and Niasse were ruled out for City and Mendez-Laing stepped in. Strong, powerful runners who needed better service to run at defenders. Made way for Paterson midway through the second half 5

Junior Hoilett

Conceded possession before Everton first half goal and failed to track back. He can make things happen, but didn’t run at defenders enough. Made way for Murphy midway through the second half 5

Bobby Decordova-Reid

Has been suffering from illness, but looked sharp and eager for City in the first half. Given a role to support centre-forward Zohore, looked lively, worked hard. Moved wider in the second half and drifted out of the game 6

Kenneth Zohore

There were moments in the second half when Zohore showed the quality he has. Glided past a defender inside the penalty area at one stage, but suffered from a lack of service and needs to be more consistent. Replaced by Ward after 81 minutes 5
